Turning Forever 29

Next year, in December, I am turning 30. As Nanny Fine says, I will stay forever 29 then ;-)
I am really afraid of turning 30. And although it's still over a year to go I don't want this day to come.
As I do not want a surprise party or whatever I wonder about this day, if I should have a party or get out of the country for some time (which I need to discuss with hubby).
If I'd have a party I want to have just one party, including friends AND family. Without being remembered I'm turning old. {See, I really do have a big problem with turning forever 29.}

So to have a party without having a classic Birthday party I thought about hosting a themed party. A pajama party won't work as my PIL and aunts are 60 + but it would be funny.
I want a theme for anybody so that young and old are happy. I'd welcome some suggestion from my party-proved readers :-)

Usually, I really try to avoid my birthday. Since my 16th birthday I do hate my birthday. Guess there are two different reasons for that:
First, my favorite granny died in the night to my 16th birthday. It was the sadest birthday ever!
Second, I do hate getting older (guess that's just a female thing *g*) and taking center stage.
But well, this time I know I got no other chance. Because going on a journey over the birthday won't solve the problem at all (and I don't want someone to do a surprise party for me...), does it? :-)

Have a wonderful weekend out there!

The Music Of The Night

Hubby's at work now and D does his nap. So now, I'm sitting here and enjoying my short free time, listening to Paul Potts as his music always relaxes me...
Just weird. I'm getting old - and square. Before being a mom and a wife, I enjoyed listening to Eminem or 50Cent. I relaxed the best way listening to Metallica, Dream Theater and Manowar at full volume. And now just one and a half year later, I'm hearing opera and enjoy it the most. Funny, don't you think. That's just how habits gonna change when being a mom.

But I need this as my weekend was very stressful. Saturday morning, me and D visited some colleagues at my old company. And I'm sooooo glad that I don't need to work there anymore. They all told me that I did the very right thing getting pregnant and that I took the right time for it. And yes, they were soooo right!
Then when we got home we waited for hubby getting home from his shift. D and hubby took their nap and I put up the grocery list for the weekend. After they woke up we went for grocery shopping and then I started baking muffins/cup cakes and a cheese cake for hubby's birthday on Sunday. After the cakes were done I started with the dips. I prepared a Greek herdsmen cream with garlic, black olives and feta cheese and a Curry Dip.
Sunday morning, I started early with cooking noodles for the noodle salad and prepared the third dip, a Remoulade. After our great breakfast and opening gifts, we spent the rest of the day with getting ready and putting up the table and stuff. At 5:30pm, the guests arrived and we had a great dinner with cold meat, different salads and dips and baguette. After D was asleep we served the cake. Well, the guests enjoyed it very much as they left at 11:30pm.
I was soooo done and tired was very happy when I was lying in bed.
That morning I needed to clean up the kitchen. Horrible thing! But now everything is done and so I'm able to enjoy the time now :-)

Hope your weekend was even more relaxing than mine. Have a great start in this week!

Tic Tac Tic Tac

Saturday was my birthday party. I invited some friends to celebrate with me. Unfotunately, some of them were ill and couldn't come :-(
When they came over we had Spaghetti Bolognese - easy to prepare for me - and a chocolate Pana Cotta for dessert. It was the first time I did Pana Cotta on my own. I did too much so they will have a nice dessert tonight as well…

My mom picked D up to stay with them so we are able to sleep longer than usual.
Normally, we need to get up at about 8am as D wakes up then.
And as I didn't know how long we'll partying I better organized a babysitter.

We watched boxing (Klitschko vs. Johnson) and did some "Buzz", had some beer and Bailey's and wine and chips - just had a great time! Our guests left around midnight and we enjoyed the silence and watched TV ("Bloody Santa") until I don't know.

The next morning I woke up at *tata* 8am… What the hell??? Why do I wake up at my usual time when I'm able to sleep so much longer? I could have slept until 10 or 11 am but no, I woke up at 8am. As I was still sleepy and I didn't want to get up that early and clean up the kitchen I tried to get asleep again.

No way! I don't get it!
Well, I hate my body clock!

Do you know that? Do you have the same issue? Waking up at your usual getting-up time when you could sleep longer coz you're kids staying elsewhere? Would like to hear/read your experiences...

It's my party...

Today's my birthday.
My 28th birthday.
Damn, time flies by…

But honestly I don't like my birthday. To me it's a day like every day. It's nothing special.
I never celebrated my birthday coz I never know why I should celebrate getting old.
Maybe it's because my granny died in the night to my 16th birthday.
Maybe it's because I'm in the centre of attention.

I loved celebrating my son's birthday last month (I haven't posted about it yet as though my computer had a breakdown around his birthday). It was nice and yes, it was something special to me. Although I reflected the whole day of his birth which wasn't fun at all.

But this year I will celebrate my birthday. With my family tonight and my friend's will be around on Saturday. I will cook and I really hope that we all have a good time.
That I will have a great time.
Enjoying the day I'm getting older.
Giving those people who do love me the most the chance to celebrate my birth and be thankful for it.

I think I'll be back on Friday, maybe Monday.
Have a good time Ladies - and Gens!
