Turning Forever 29

Next year, in December, I am turning 30. As Nanny Fine says, I will stay forever 29 then ;-)
I am really afraid of turning 30. And although it's still over a year to go I don't want this day to come.
As I do not want a surprise party or whatever I wonder about this day, if I should have a party or get out of the country for some time (which I need to discuss with hubby).
If I'd have a party I want to have just one party, including friends AND family. Without being remembered I'm turning old. {See, I really do have a big problem with turning forever 29.}

So to have a party without having a classic Birthday party I thought about hosting a themed party. A pajama party won't work as my PIL and aunts are 60 + but it would be funny.
I want a theme for anybody so that young and old are happy. I'd welcome some suggestion from my party-proved readers :-)

Usually, I really try to avoid my birthday. Since my 16th birthday I do hate my birthday. Guess there are two different reasons for that:
First, my favorite granny died in the night to my 16th birthday. It was the sadest birthday ever!
Second, I do hate getting older (guess that's just a female thing *g*) and taking center stage.
But well, this time I know I got no other chance. Because going on a journey over the birthday won't solve the problem at all (and I don't want someone to do a surprise party for me...), does it? :-)

Have a wonderful weekend out there!

02 September 2010

I'm watching the new German season of "Popstars" (best Music Casting Show on Geman TV).

There was a girl, she was 20 years old and she made it to the re-call. Then, the jury asked her where she's living and she told them that she actually lives at a shelter for homeless people. The jury asked her to tell them more about it and she said that her mom lives in England and her dad lives in Bavaria (South-East Germany). She had an apprenticeship in Nordrhein-Westfalen (Middle-East Germany) but lost her job and couldn't pay her rent anymore so she needed to move to the shelter.
They asked her why she doesn't move back to her dad and she confessed that she's afraid he has a go at her, that he laughs at her and tell her that he knew she won't make it.
So she rather lives at the shelter than moving back to her dad. That is sooo sad. One of the jury member - who is a dad as well - went up to the stage and gave her a big hug and comforted her.

And that made me cry. I cried because I felt her pain.
If D. wasn't already sleeping I would've hugged him.

Journey To The Past

As my younger brother moved in with my parents again (he's in the mid-twenties and has had his own apartment for about 5 years now - but his apartment was sold so he needed to move. Don't ask me why he moved in with our parents but well, he did...), my parents needed to tidy up a bit. The room my brother lives in now was a storage room for everything, a cluttered storage room in the basement. So my parents started to sort things out first, separated my things from my brother's and theirs and put it in another basement room which is the guest room (which is used not often).
So as my pregnant cousin and her husband are going to visit us next weekend my mom forced me to sort my stuff out. She asked me quite often in the last weeks but I dodged it - until yesterday.
I went over to my parent's house to meet my past packed up in boxes. I hate journeys to the past. Inconvenient...
As I started to unpack the boxes, I found some old books from school (elementary to training school) and self-made pictures from elemantary school and other things for the garbage bag. And I found some old letters from an ex-boyfriend and letters from former pen pals - I asked my mom to burn them up. I also found my old Barbies and their clothes, my favorite doll named Sissi (like the Austrian Empress) and her clothes, some stuffed animals which I want to keep because they mean something to me.
About 3 hours later my journey to the past was done. I found many pictures and things which reminded me of some happy and funny and sad moments in my life. I'm glad that I did this journey yesterday and enjoyed it much although it was work. I kept books and pictures of those moments I was happy in and put the unlucky moments into the garbage bag - I sorted out my life and it feels good.
This was my first step and I hope the next steps will continue :-)

Getting To Know You - 08/15/10

Usually, I do not post on weekends - but today I will. Luckily, Hubby took D. to my PIL and so there's plenty of time to blog and read blogs :-)

I decided to join in Keely's "Getting To Know YOU" today...

Getting to know YOU

1. What kind of athlete has the hottest body?
> Soccer players and swimmers

2. Are you a planner or a procrastinator?
> Definitely a planner...

3. Diet or regular (soda)?
> Regular - I don't like the diet cokes or whatever.

4. What's your one "must have" for Fall?
> A great fitting Jeans.

5. What's your favorite fast food restaurant?
> McDonald's. There's not much else near here (just a Burger King).

6. What do you think is the sexiest profession for a guy?
> Steel worker. You know, these guys building up a skyscraper in one day and walking on the steel beams like it's the most safest spot on earth...

7. Did you wear braces?
> Nope

8. Would you rather have a guy that's super sexy or kind?
> Well, both would be great... Kind is important but could be too much somewhen - super sexy is great but you need to take care. So if I have to choose I'd say super sexy ;-)

Enjoy your sunday now!

(I need to do some housework like ironing or something. Otherwise hubby rants again that I am too lazy. Hope time flies by until he needs to start work!)

5QF - 08/13/10

Yay after a looooooong break I'll be back joining in Mama M.'s Five Question Friday!
I need to confess that I really missed this thing :-)

So, here we go:

1. Have you ever visited another country?
> Yes. I've been to France, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Spain, The Netherlands, Denmark for holidays.

2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been?
> The apartment of my former boyfriend's ex-wife. Odd situation, odd place...

3. What is your favorite season?
> Spring. Flowers and trees are blooming, the weather is sweet.

4. What one song will always cheer you up?
> Puh, just one? Guess Meat Loaf's "I'd do anything for Love" is one of those. And "Forever Young" by Alphaville.

5. What Disney character do you resemble most?
> The Beast... (just from the inside *g*) I really mean it. It is forced to act as it does but it still has a great heart. Guess I do not look like a Disney character...

Hop over and join in :-)

Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

d) I am missing my girl's nights out at discos and bars and wish myself back to my single life.

e) I love Fußball/soccer/football - whatever you call it. And I own a season ticket for the regional Fußball/soccer/football club :-)

f) Gift certificates (e.g. for massages or brunch) are always expiring.

g) I do not know 15 new blogs but I want to award some of my favorite blogs instead.

And now, the Award goes to:
Mama M.
Josiah's Mommy

Back To Life

As mentioned, I started working again. It's just a part-time job (25%) so I'm still a SAHM but I am able to meet other people and it's a step back into real life.
I do work in the cafeteria of a home for the aged. It's quite easy and the people are very kind. I need to serve coffee and cakes and - depending on the shift - I do serve their lunch. The elderly people are happy to meet a friendly and young woman and so they are as satisfied as I am.

Serving people is not my profession though. Originally, I did an apprenticeship as clerk in an industrial company. After finalizing my apprenticeship I was employed as financial controller in operative management. I hated this job. It was boring and I needed to bother my colleagues. Data here, numerary there - boooring. I always wanted to work in the marketing or sales department, using my foreign languages which I learned for so long. But I needed to stay in the controlling department.

So when I need to get back to my realy work, to my company after my parental leave I really hope to get a part-time job (50%) in another department.

Have a wonderful day!
