L.O.V.E.

I'm watching the new German season of "Popstars" (best Music Casting Show on Geman TV).

There was a girl, she was 20 years old and she made it to the re-call. Then, the jury asked her where she's living and she told them that she actually lives at a shelter for homeless people. The jury asked her to tell them more about it and she said that her mom lives in England and her dad lives in Bavaria (South-East Germany). She had an apprenticeship in Nordrhein-Westfalen (Middle-East Germany) but lost her job and couldn't pay her rent anymore so she needed to move to the shelter.
They asked her why she doesn't move back to her dad and she confessed that she's afraid he has a go at her, that he laughs at her and tell her that he knew she won't make it.
So she rather lives at the shelter than moving back to her dad. That is sooo sad. One of the jury member - who is a dad as well - went up to the stage and gave her a big hug and comforted her.

And that made me cry. I cried because I felt her pain.
If D. wasn't already sleeping I would've hugged him.

Grand Prix d'Eurovision de la Chanson

Yes! We won! After 28 years of singing and acting and hoping we have won this song contest again. And it was soooo time! We really deserve this victory!

One of the best results had Stefan Raab (a great German entertainer; he has his own TV show and is hosting many entertaining shows like "Wok WM" and "Schlag den Raab!") performing "Wadde hadde dudde da". Take a look and you will rolling on the floor laughing, a bit embarrassing but he ranked 5th place. Now, he's the manager of this year's winner.

Her name is Lena and this is her performance of "Satellite":

Isn't she cute and damn this song is really great.
After all those embarrassing tries to win over the last years we showed Europe that we are still competitive!

Stefan Raab was so annoyed that no German performance won ever again so he decided to have a casting show and find a new and fresh and very talented person to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest this year. Lena won and the public chose the song she sould sing. And everything worked out properly :-)
So hopefully, we don't have to wait that long again to win this contest again...

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Raised On Rock

Weekend review: Friday - Rock concert; Saturday - sleeping in, having guests; Sunday - ill, sleeping all day

So I will tell you about this rock concert we went to on Friday night. It was the last concert ever of the German rock legends The Scorpions. Hubby used to hear them in his youth and me, too so I ordered the tickets some months ago. There were just a few left so our seats weren't that good but it was OK.
Before the concert we went out to dinner and had some drinks and were quite excited.
The concert started at 7:30 pm with the opening band called Edguy. And damn, they were great! They do Metal and I really love that kind of music. (And I think I'm a bit in love with the singer... *g*)
Then at about 8:45 pm The Scorpions came on stage and started with their program right away. No hello, no nothing. Then, after an hour of rocking they did some interacting with the fans and let us sing quite many songs. This was really fun and we had a blast of time! Their encore was, of course, "Wind of change" - and it was amazing...
They did rock for about 2 hours without a break and they did quite a good job! We had a fantastic time and enjoyed every single minute that night.
Oh BTW: The Scorpions are the one and only German band who got a star at the RockWalk in L.A. :-)

I will calm down myself now hearing the new Edguy album and start preparing myself to get back to work today. I think I'll post about this tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day!

Fasnet 2010

Sorry for not posting the last two days. I was busy and yesterday, I was at an event. A Fasnet event.
It was hosted by my parents and some members of my brother's Fasnet club came over, wearing their Häs (kind of costume), to celebrate the end of the Fasnet. On their last day, they are wandering around the city and visiting all those kiddy carnival events. As said, they started at my parent's with some sausages and bread, beer, whisky cola and sparkling wine. I'm really not one of those carnival type of girl but as I know nearly all of this club I decided to come over with D. So we headed there and about 11:30 am the first bunch showed up.
They put up some party music and then we hang around, eating and drinking and talking. It was so much fun. Even D had fun. The club's costume is a wolf and he likes their masks and always did those "wau wau" (his word for dog) sounds, he danced coz he loves music and it was so nice seeing him that happy. Even the sun was shining, no snowing that day :-)
At about 2:30 pm they left for their tour de city.

We enjoyed the time very much and will be there next year again. And next year, D is old enough to join in those kiddy carnival events, too. I'm really looking forward and stay excited what kind of costume he'll choose then...

Have a happy day!

TTMMD: Friday - 02/12/10 -

This is my 100th post! Yay! :-))

Today, I'm going to post a love song. This is a German band and a German song - one of my favorite songs. It's about a compliment and the singer tells his girlfriend what she means to him.

I will try to translate it (so that you get a clue what they're singing about):

If saying so
You're the destination of a long journey
You're the perfection in it's best way
Silent in quiet moments
The head of the wave of enthusiasm
Uphill, my drive and verve

Refrain:
I just wanted to tell you
That you are the greatest gift to me
And make sure that you feel the same for me

If saying so
You are my chill-out area
My holidays in every year
The sweetie section at the supermarket
The solution when I got stuck
So precious that I'd rather save it
So beautiful that I won't turn you down

(I really hope that makes sense to you, it's a bit fancy in German as well...)

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the Valentine's Day! :-)

Writer's Workshop - Poem Of Love

Yes, Thursday, and it's time for Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop. Check out the prompts and join in!

Today, I chose No. 5 - Write a poem to your love for Valentine's Day!
I wrote it in German, hope that counts as well...
