4. What is currently your favorite song?

5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase?
> We were saving for the new iPhone and to get our car done. But what we really saving for is an own house with a garden...

Girls, enjoy your weekend!

Getting To Know You - 08/15/10

Usually, I do not post on weekends - but today I will. Luckily, Hubby took D. to my PIL and so there's plenty of time to blog and read blogs :-)

I decided to join in Keely's "Getting To Know YOU" today...

Getting to know YOU

1. What kind of athlete has the hottest body?
> Soccer players and swimmers

2. Are you a planner or a procrastinator?
> Definitely a planner...

3. Diet or regular (soda)?
> Regular - I don't like the diet cokes or whatever.

4. What's your one "must have" for Fall?
> A great fitting Jeans.

5. What's your favorite fast food restaurant?
> McDonald's. There's not much else near here (just a Burger King).

6. What do you think is the sexiest profession for a guy?
> Steel worker. You know, these guys building up a skyscraper in one day and walking on the steel beams like it's the most safest spot on earth...

7. Did you wear braces?
> Nope

8. Would you rather have a guy that's super sexy or kind?
> Well, both would be great... Kind is important but could be too much somewhen - super sexy is great but you need to take care. So if I have to choose I'd say super sexy ;-)

Enjoy your sunday now!

(I need to do some housework like ironing or something. Otherwise hubby rants again that I am too lazy. Hope time flies by until he needs to start work!)

13 August 2010

5QF - 08/13/10

Yay after a looooooong break I'll be back joining in Mama M.'s Five Question Friday!
I need to confess that I really missed this thing :-)

So, here we go:

1. Have you ever visited another country?
> Yes. I've been to France, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Spain, The Netherlands, Denmark for holidays.

2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been?
> The apartment of my former boyfriend's ex-wife. Odd situation, odd place...

3. What is your favorite season?
> Spring. Flowers and trees are blooming, the weather is sweet.

4. What one song will always cheer you up?
> Puh, just one? Guess Meat Loaf's "I'd do anything for Love" is one of those. And "Forever Young" by Alphaville.

5. What Disney character do you resemble most?
> The Beast... (just from the inside *g*) I really mean it. It is forced to act as it does but it still has a great heart. Guess I do not look like a Disney character...

Hop over and join in :-)

Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

5QF - 05/28/10

So this Friday I will join in with Mama M.'s Five Question Friday again. Last week, I had no chance to blog coz hubby was all around.
Mama M. picked up a question suggestion from myself and so I'm very proud today. Maybe I'll get a bit arrogant for today *g*

So here we go:

1. Is there something you've always wanted to try but just can't muster up the courage to actually do yet?
> Bungee Jumping. I had the chance to do it at the age of 16 but was too afraid. So I never tried this again. But I really want to do skydiving one day. I shared the wish to get a tandem skydive for my 30th birthday...

2. If you had $100 handed to you in cash without your significant other knowing about it, what would you spend it on?
> Clothes and shoes for me. Maybe a shirt for hubby and some toys for D. But I guess I would spend it on clothes. Hey, I'm female ;-)

3. What was your favorite piece of playground equipment as a child?
> The swing. We even had one (selfmade by our Dad) in our garden. I loved it to swing as high as possible and jump off it at the highest point. Was always so much fun!

4. Do you prefer a sweet or hearty breakfast?
> Sweet! Jam, honey, Nutella, pancakes. I cannot manage to eat sausages or baked beans or something like that for breakfast. The only "hearty" thing possible for my breakfast is scrambled eggs.

5. Are you a Neat Freak or a Messy Bessy?
> Messy Bessy. I'm kind of chaotic and I need some chaos to feel comfortable. Hubby's the opposite. I couldn't find anything after him cleaning up my neat-y chaos...

Hop over and join in :-)
Enjoy your weekend!

Writer's Workshop - Where are my shoes?

I'm joining in Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop again this week. Check out the prompts and join in yourself!

This week I chose prompt No. 2: Where were your shoes? Write about an interesting time when you happened to be barefoot. Begin and end your writing with a description of your feet.

I don't like my feet at all. They are big and slender and if this doesn't it make hard enough to find some nice shoes I also got a hammer toe - horrible feet though.
So some years ago I tried to find some nice shoes for the office, not high-heels but black, simple and comfortable pumps. Easy, you might think. Not at all. Not with my feet. I removed my old sneakers and the sales woman brought me pair of pair but 95% don't fit at all. Somewhen, after what felt like hours, I found a nice pair of black pumps I liked and which did fit very well. I decided to buy them. And as I wanted to put on my sneakers I noticed that they were gone. Yes, gone. Just like that. I was intent upon finding some new shoes that I didn't take care of my sneakers.
I asked the sales woman if she had seen my sneakers but she didn't. I couldn't find them. So some other sales women joined in the search for my sneakers. Somewhen they did find one under a kid's shoe shelf but the second one was gone. I didn't believe that someone hid them. And it was absolutetly impossible that someone stole them coz they were worn out and really old and nothing special.
So as we couldn't find my second sneakers I needed to wear my new pumps to get home. They told me to call me when they found my sneakers.
Some days later I got a call from the sales woman at the shoe shop. They found my second shoe. It was hidden in the second row of a men's shoe shelf. I was soooo glad to have it back coz even if they are worn out you cannot put your favorite shoes away...
We never found out who hid them or why but we thought it was a kid who was bored.
So always take care of your shoes so you'll never stand in a shoe shop with your hammer toe...

Enjoy your day! :-)

5QF - 05/07/10

Yay it's Friday and that means it's time for Mama M.'s Five Question Friday!
Hop over and join in :-)

1. What is your worst memory of your siblings?
> As my younger brother (I really cannot write little coz he's taller now and looks like a bear...) hit his head on my dad's self-made wooden swing. We need to go to hospital coz he had a hole in the head. Horrible. He was about 4 years old or something...

2. What was YOUR naughtiest childhood memory? (Must be something YOU did, no pawning it off on someone else!)
> Me? A naughty kid? Oh, come on, I was the nicest kid you could imagine ;-) Uhm I really need to think hard coz everything before my 16th birthday is like gone with the wind. I'm not kidding. I hardly do have any memory of my childhood...
I'm really sorry, I cannot remember anything right now so I leave this question out.

3. Where do you like to go to relax?
> My bed. Best place to relax - sleeping is the best relaxation ever. To me... Oh well, of course I can relax at a spa as well but my bed is my fav :-)

4. What was the last thing you won?
> It was a CD at a fair (doing the wheel of Fortune).

5. If you could be on a game show, which would you choose?
> "Wer wird Millionär?" I think it's called "Who wants to be a millionaire?". I love this show and watching it whenever it's on. And the German presenter is very charming, too.

Have a nice weekend! :-)

Writer's Workshop - Letter To A New Mom

It's time for Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop again. This week's prompt No. 1 suits me quite perfect as I planned a kind of that topic to post.
The prompt is: Open letter to new moms...

Let's go!

>> Dear new mom or mommy-to-be,

there are sooooo many things we don't think about or expect to happen when we are planning to get pregnant. Pregnancy itself is a cake walk compared to birth and having a fresh baby at home. Believe me - it hit me quite hard coz this is something moms NEVER tell you about.

They tell you that giving birth is the most emotional and wonderful thing on earth. It is not! Really not! Giving birth is emotional but not in a good way. And it will be the most horrible and painful experience you can imagine. But you can never imagine the labor pain nor the pain after giving birth (e.g. episiotomy).
But yes, you feel like in heaven when you're holding your little tiny baby in your arms, searching for your breast and nearly unable to open the eyes. That's the most wonderful moment when giving birth...

They never tell you about the first few weeks after birth. You won't get no sleep, no recreation. You are the most stressed, starving and anguished, overstrained person in the world. The baby wants to eat every 2-4 hours, even at night. You are not able to walk much and need to stay at home when having a c-section or a episiotomy, for about 4 weeks. Every situation is new with a new-born, even having a shower or cooking.
But yes, when you are feeding (doesn't matter if you do breastfeeding or bottle-feeding) at 3 o'clock in the morning, in the middle of the night, freezing and then he/she smiles at you and is thankful that you are there - you know it's all worth it...

They never tell you that it will change your complete life. And if they do tell you, you'd never believe. Because you'll get one of those other moms that won't change their life because of that little person. You are sure you get it managed and that you are always being showered and put your face on when leaving the house. You think that you'll get back your old body right away and be cool in every situation. Believe me, you won't. Never. Your life will change and you cannot do anything for stopping that.
But yes, sometimes you get everything in order and even washed your hair when you leave the house (maybe you'll notice that you forget the make-up) but no one every notices coz it doesn't matter as long as your baby is satisfied.

I really don't want to scare you. But this is how I experienced it. And other moms I know felt exactly the same.
Be sure to say NO if you don't want to have any visitors. Say NO if you don't want the other to touch your baby.
And after 8 weeks time, you got used to your baby and everything runs in order again. This is true!

Wishing you all the best!<<

5QF - 04/30/10

Yippieh - it's Friday! And so it's time for Mama M. Five Question Friday!
Looking forward to this all week long :-)

Let's get it started:
1. If you could, would you go back to high school?
> We don't have High School up here but it's comparable to our Gymnasium and Realschule. Well, I didn't like going to school at all. I wasn't bad but I just didn't like it. So, no, I won't go back to school.

2. If a genie appeared and granted you two wishes, what would they be? (And, no saying "more wishes".)
> Just two? Oh, uhm, that's tough. Well, the first would be that me and my family will stay healthy. Second? Hm... Money or Love? Love or Money? Uhm I think I'd choose money, as much money that I won't need to care about money anymore. And pretend that the love will stay as it is and that's it's my effort to keep us a happy family!

3. What kids show do you secretly like?
> Uhm "Hannah Montana". I really like it. And "Hotel Jack and Cody". So cute...

4. What is your beverage of choice?
> My everyday beverage is water (which I just do drink coz it's healthy and don't make me fat). But apart from that I like MezzoMix..

5. What is something that you would change about yourself (or are working to change in yourself)?
> My jealousy, I'm working on that for years now and it really improved. Another thing is to get my moods in order and handle them...

What would your answers be? Join in!

Have a wonderful weekend!

23 April 2010

5QF - 04/23/10

Yay Friday and time for Mama M.'s Five Question Friday :-)
Join in, it's always fun!

1. What was the first car you owned?
> A white Ford Fiesta, year of construction was 1993 as far as I remember. When I bought it in 2001 it was quite old and had already some buckles and rust. I had it until 2003 when the motor broke for good.

2. What song are you embarrassed to know the lyrics to?
> Blümchen "Boomerang" - this was a nice song in the 90's, when I was a teenager. I heard it some days ago and I still knew all the lyrics - very embarrassing!

3. Have you ever had stitches?
> Uhm yes. I broke my thumb when I was 4 (don't ask me how) so I got a wonderful scar there. And on my right foot as well.

4. What was your first job?
> It was a job when I was 13 and it was paper deliverer. I hated it!

5. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
> Oh damn, that's quite a looooooong time ago. But I remember a pink snail called Finchen - she was soooo cute and bff of Samson, the blue bear. (I'm not sure it the German characters are the same than the American...)

Have a wonderful weekend! :-)

ThursdayFive in combination with WW

So today I am able to combine Keely's Thursday Five with Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop.
Keely wants to your five things that made you happy that week and so I chose Mama Kat's prompt No. 3: What's the joy in your present moment?

So here we go:

1) Right now, I enjoy my little spare time for blogging and facebook-ing while D is taking his nap and hubby's still at work.

2) Tuesday was Gran's Day (D is with my parents for the afternoon) and so hubby and I could relax.

3) "The sun is shining, the weather is sweet..." Yes, summer's coming!

4) I enjoyed the silence during the European flight interdiction (maybe you heard about the ash cloud as consequence of Iceland's vulcanic eruption) and there are still just a few planes passing by...

5) Soccer (do you say soccer or football?) time tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it - always with the hope that they'll win :-)

Join in yourself though.

05 March 2010

5QF - 03/05/10

Yay, Friday and it's time for Mama M.'s 5 Question Friday. Join in :-)

My Little Life

5QF is my bedtime sweets every Friday and so here we go:

1. What's your guilty pleasure?
> Blogging. Just like that. And playing games like Farmville and Sims.

2. What is your favorite TV series?
> Just one? Series is plural, isn't it? ;-)
I love SatC (who doesn't...) and Lipstick Jungle and Two and a half Men. I can watch them always, again and again.

3. Can you speak any foreign languages?
> Sure! English *g* and French and very few words Italian and Spanish. (Originally, I wanted to be a translator and interpreter and if I needn't go to University I'd work with translation now...)

4. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
> Not much. Really not. About 30 maybe. I don't know exactly - and I won't go and count them coz my summy shoes are stocked in the basement *gg*

5. What's your favorite kind of M&M's...peanut, almond, straight up regular, etc.?
> The classic ones. The yellow package things. Those are the REAL M&M's.
I want some. Now. Damn :-(

Have a wonderful weekend!

26 February 2010

5QF - 02/26/10

Oh, it's Friday again. The week flew by quite fast, don't you think? But I'm glad the weekend's here. D will have a trial-sleep-over at my in-laws and we're going out with some friends tomorrow night. I'm so looking forward to it and hope that D will sleep well...

Now, time for Mama M.'s 5 Question Friday: My Little Life
Join in! It's always fun :-)

1. Do you sing karaoke? If so, what is your go to song?
> I love singing. But I don't sing karaoke, just twice a year at a friend's party on PS2. I feel quite uncomfortable standing in front of foreigners and perform a song. I'd prefer singing at home, just for myself...

2. What is your favorite coffee drink?
> Starbuck's White Chocolate Mocha, l-free, no cream. Nothing better... Damn, I want one. Now! ;-)

3. If you could choose your own name, what would it be?
> Zoe. Or Sophia. Or Joyce. These are the names that I really like...

4. Were you ever bullied?
> Yes. More often than I wished to... Too often I think. Not now. I'm strong and a different person now so I guess that won't happen to me again. I hope so!

5. How often do you eat fast food?
> You mean, real fast food? Like KFC and Burger stuff and so on? Maximum 3 times a month. I'd rather cook or grab a take-away at an Italian or Chinese restaurant. But I won't call this fast food coz the nutrition is different (and I'm full up afterwards...).

Enjoy your weekend and have fun! :-)

Writer's Workshop - Brea's problem

OK it's late now and uhm I really want to play SIMS now but I'm going to join in the Writer's Workshop first. It's hosted by Mama Kat and you'll find this week's prompts here.
Join in :-)

This week, it's a very tough decision. I suspended last week coz I got no inspiration :-(
But I think No.2 is the right thing for today...

Brea has a problem with an anonymous something telling her that she shouldn't post about her kid and show picture and so on. Well, isn't that what blogging is about?
But back to the problem: I experienced those blog stalker (I don't know what to call them...) with some wedding blogs. And with my wedding blog. I put up a wedding blog to keep our friends and relatives up-to-date with the planning. Blogging about wedding stuff was great and I read sooo many other wedding blogs and this was awesome. I even did a diary blog about D. Until I received an anonymous comment on my wedding blog. And I found out who it was and why.
It was someone my hubby knew many years before we met. I don't know how she found our blog but well, she did. And she was jealous. She wanted to pair her best friend off with hubby - and he put her down. She wanted to crash our wedding and put some bad stuff on us.
This was the moment that I closed the blogs down, privatized the wedding and D.'s blog. And this was the best decision I could've made.
But I wanted to talk about my motherhood and D. and my life. So I put up this incognito profile, no pics, no full names, no cities. Just to protect my privacy!

Some of those other brides-to-be told the world everything, all details. Date and Time of the wedding, which church and which pastor they chose, where the reception will take place. And to be honest: I was surprised that they hadn't any wedding crashers...

So think about what you reveal and what you want the world to know. If you're too open you shouldn't be surprised if you'll get a blog stalker at all...

Brea, I hope I could help you... Hope your stalker will give up soon!

Enjoy your night! :-)

19 February 2010

5QF - 02/19/2010

I'm going to join in Mama M.'s 5QF - never miss this thing. Hop over and join in as well :-)

My Little Life

1. Have you ever hit an animal with your vehicle?
> Uhm. No. I never did. Really, I'm honest, I never did. And I really hope I never will...

2. When you see a string on your clothes do you pull it off or cut if off?
> Uhm I always try to pull it off but either I'm too weak or the string gets longer. So I'm ending up to cut it off.

3. Did you have your own room or share a room when you were young?
> I had my own room. As I do have a younger brother it was quite good having my own room. I never wanted to share his messy-like room. And he snores quite loud and so on. No, having my own room was obligation.

4. Would you rather wear the same thing for the rest of your life or eat the same thing for the rest of your life?
> Better wear the same thing, if I'm allowed to wash it from time to time. Cannot imagine to eat pizza til the end of my life...

5. What was your favorite TV show as a child?
> "Sesame Street". And "Die Sendung mit der Maus".

Good Night!

11 February 2010

Writer's Workshop - Poem Of Love

Yes, Thursday, and it's time for Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop. Check out the prompts and join in!

Today, I chose No. 5 - Write a poem to your love for Valentine's Day!
I wrote it in German, hope that counts as well...

5QF - 02/05/10

Yay it's Friday and this means it's time for fun: Mama M.'s 5 Question Friday! :-) Hop over and join in...

My Little Life

Here we go again:

1. What are you most afraid of?
> Actually, I'm afraid that D is getting ill seriously. And that hubby and D will die. This would be my sentence to death as well. I really mean it! Losing both of them would be killing me... I'd struggle even if hubby would leave me coz of someone else.

2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?
> Do you know what I first thought when reading it: how could you get you laundry smooth with a curling iron??? *gg* Yes, you're aloud to laugh!
Beside my electric iron I don't use any other irons. I don't need it, it would be totally useless. My hair is thick and heavy and stick-straight so curls wouldn't last long ;-)

3. Hands-free or phone to the ear?
> Cell to ear... Always. I tried those headphones and stuff - ah phone to the ear and that's it ;-)

4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?
> Yes. Dark brown and white. A big bed with bedside table, a closet and a dresser. Love it!

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?
> Uhm.... No. Maybe yes.... I believe that everyone has a guardian angel. But I don't believe in ghosts or seeresses or stuff. I think I'm just too demoralized (hope this is the right word for it....) for stuff like that.

Fun again :-)

04 February 2010

Writer's Workshop - 02/04/10

Yay, Thursday, time again for Mama Kat's Workshop. Hop over to get the prompts and join in this fun :-)

This week it was a hard decision again. But well, I decided to choose No.5:
List 10 things you never knew until you were mom

1. Diaper changing stinks. And the content of the diaper really stinks! Awful…
2. Either you're ill you have to "work"
3. You get reduced to diaper changing, feeding and cleaning
4. People (without kids) think you lost your brain when giving birth and treat you like you're dumb
5. Raising kids is a competition (oh my little one says this word and is already walking etc.)
6. Getting a drool-y kiss is so much appreciated
7. You can get worried to death for another person
8. Kids really kill cosy togetherness
9. The simplest thing (e.g. clothes-pins) is the best toy
10. Your heart could burst from love when you're toddler's snuggling and smiles at you

How about you?

01 February 2010

Not Me! Monday - 02/01/10 (first time)

Yes, unbelievable, but it's my first time I join in MckMama's carnival.

Here we go:
> It was not me who was lying in bed the whole Friday and Saturday. And of course, it was not me who bursted into tears every 30 minutes on Saturday, out of the sudden. It wasn't me who didn't sleep last week, I didn't lay awake every night.
And in no way, it was not me who was drunk of 2 glasses of red wine on that 40's birthday party we were invited to. So, it wasn't me either who was glad that D was staying with his grandparents the whole Sunday. Hubby and I didn't spend our Sunday on the couch watching soccer and get asleep. <

Hope this was right and I really don't know why I haven't joined in earlier. It's fun and really, there's no guilt ;-)

Have a nice day!

29 January 2010

5QF - 01/29/10

Yippieh, it's Friday and this means time for Mama M. 5 Question Friday!
Hop over to her blog and join it. It's always fun :-)

My Little Life

1. Would you ever vacation alone?
> Yes. I once did. Or maybe twice. I did it to sort my mind, to have some time for myself. It happened when times where quite hard for me and wanted to get back to myself again.

2. Do you go the speed limit?
> Yes! I'm a speed junkie! 240 km/h? Lame! ;-) Really...

3. Why did you start blogging/following blogs?
> Reading experiences of other moms, how's parenting doing, how do they feel. And well, share my experiences and stuff.

4. Where do you shop for yourself?
> H&M. Or S.Oliver. Sometimes Hilfiger or Boss.

5. What was the song that you danced your first dance with your spouse to at your wedding...or...what song would you like your first dance to be to?
> It was Elton John's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight". I wanted to stay on the stage and sing it but wasn't brave enough (although my singing teacher encouraged me). So we chose it for the first dance as it is a waltz.

Nice again!

28 January 2010

Writer's Workshop - Muffin Tin

It's time again for Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop. Jump over and choose one of the prompts.
Mama's Losin' It

This week was a tough decision to make for me. I really had no idea so I chose the easiest thing: the muffin tin menu.

So, here it is:

(beginning from top left, clockwise)

2 waffle hearts - cereals - Ernie and Bert cookies - Scheiblettenkäse/cheese slice - tomato - zucchini risotto
