Grand Prix d'Eurovision de la Chanson

Yes! We won! After 28 years of singing and acting and hoping we have won this song contest again. And it was soooo time! We really deserve this victory!

One of the best results had Stefan Raab (a great German entertainer; he has his own TV show and is hosting many entertaining shows like "Wok WM" and "Schlag den Raab!") performing "Wadde hadde dudde da". Take a look and you will rolling on the floor laughing, a bit embarrassing but he ranked 5th place. Now, he's the manager of this year's winner.

Her name is Lena and this is her performance of "Satellite":

Isn't she cute and damn this song is really great.
After all those embarrassing tries to win over the last years we showed Europe that we are still competitive!

Stefan Raab was so annoyed that no German performance won ever again so he decided to have a casting show and find a new and fresh and very talented person to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest this year. Lena won and the public chose the song she sould sing. And everything worked out properly :-)
So hopefully, we don't have to wait that long again to win this contest again...

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Some Techno stuff today - Scooter "The Question Is What Is The Question"

Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend :-)

5QF - 05/28/10

So this Friday I will join in with Mama M.'s Five Question Friday again. Last week, I had no chance to blog coz hubby was all around.
Mama M. picked up a question suggestion from myself and so I'm very proud today. Maybe I'll get a bit arrogant for today *g*

So here we go:

1. Is there something you've always wanted to try but just can't muster up the courage to actually do yet?
> Bungee Jumping. I had the chance to do it at the age of 16 but was too afraid. So I never tried this again. But I really want to do skydiving one day. I shared the wish to get a tandem skydive for my 30th birthday...

2. If you had $100 handed to you in cash without your significant other knowing about it, what would you spend it on?
> Clothes and shoes for me. Maybe a shirt for hubby and some toys for D. But I guess I would spend it on clothes. Hey, I'm female ;-)

3. What was your favorite piece of playground equipment as a child?
> The swing. We even had one (selfmade by our Dad) in our garden. I loved it to swing as high as possible and jump off it at the highest point. Was always so much fun!

4. Do you prefer a sweet or hearty breakfast?
> Sweet! Jam, honey, Nutella, pancakes. I cannot manage to eat sausages or baked beans or something like that for breakfast. The only "hearty" thing possible for my breakfast is scrambled eggs.

5. Are you a Neat Freak or a Messy Bessy?
> Messy Bessy. I'm kind of chaotic and I need some chaos to feel comfortable. Hubby's the opposite. I couldn't find anything after him cleaning up my neat-y chaos...

Hop over and join in :-)
Enjoy your weekend!

Raised On Rock

Weekend review: Friday - Rock concert; Saturday - sleeping in, having guests; Sunday - ill, sleeping all day

So I will tell you about this rock concert we went to on Friday night. It was the last concert ever of the German rock legends The Scorpions. Hubby used to hear them in his youth and me, too so I ordered the tickets some months ago. There were just a few left so our seats weren't that good but it was OK.
Before the concert we went out to dinner and had some drinks and were quite excited.
The concert started at 7:30 pm with the opening band called Edguy. And damn, they were great! They do Metal and I really love that kind of music. (And I think I'm a bit in love with the singer... *g*)
Then at about 8:45 pm The Scorpions came on stage and started with their program right away. No hello, no nothing. Then, after an hour of rocking they did some interacting with the fans and let us sing quite many songs. This was really fun and we had a blast of time! Their encore was, of course, "Wind of change" - and it was amazing...
They did rock for about 2 hours without a break and they did quite a good job! We had a fantastic time and enjoyed every single minute that night.
Oh BTW: The Scorpions are the one and only German band who got a star at the RockWalk in L.A. :-)

I will calm down myself now hearing the new Edguy album and start preparing myself to get back to work today. I think I'll post about this tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day!

Writer's Workshop - Where are my shoes?

I'm joining in Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop again this week. Check out the prompts and join in yourself!

This week I chose prompt No. 2: Where were your shoes? Write about an interesting time when you happened to be barefoot. Begin and end your writing with a description of your feet.

I don't like my feet at all. They are big and slender and if this doesn't it make hard enough to find some nice shoes I also got a hammer toe - horrible feet though.
So some years ago I tried to find some nice shoes for the office, not high-heels but black, simple and comfortable pumps. Easy, you might think. Not at all. Not with my feet. I removed my old sneakers and the sales woman brought me pair of pair but 95% don't fit at all. Somewhen, after what felt like hours, I found a nice pair of black pumps I liked and which did fit very well. I decided to buy them. And as I wanted to put on my sneakers I noticed that they were gone. Yes, gone. Just like that. I was intent upon finding some new shoes that I didn't take care of my sneakers.
I asked the sales woman if she had seen my sneakers but she didn't. I couldn't find them. So some other sales women joined in the search for my sneakers. Somewhen they did find one under a kid's shoe shelf but the second one was gone. I didn't believe that someone hid them. And it was absolutetly impossible that someone stole them coz they were worn out and really old and nothing special.
So as we couldn't find my second sneakers I needed to wear my new pumps to get home. They told me to call me when they found my sneakers.
Some days later I got a call from the sales woman at the shoe shop. They found my second shoe. It was hidden in the second row of a men's shoe shelf. I was soooo glad to have it back coz even if they are worn out you cannot put your favorite shoes away...
We never found out who hid them or why but we thought it was a kid who was bored.
So always take care of your shoes so you'll never stand in a shoe shop with your hammer toe...

Enjoy your day! :-)

How To Become A Millionaire

So, here I am again. I had a nice weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day - although it rained but we made the best out of it. I did enjoy it very much! Hope you did so as well :-)

Yesterday, we went shopping coz I needed some new shirts. (Never ever go shopping with a 18 months old toddler, this is no fun at all!)
And on our way home there was a great story on the radio. The story was about a woman who got a millionaire - nothing special you might think. But you don't know HOW she got a millionaire... Wanna know?
OK: she embezzled money. Yes. She worked as a self-employed book-keeper at a family business and transfered (*) company money (all in all it was about 1.2 million Euros) on an account of her own to support her family.

Isn't this weird? And clever. She did this for about 15 years - and they just found out now. Really, I like this story. It's perkily and clever but she should have stopped doing this a while ago. Now she probably needs to go to prison just because she couldn't get enough...

But anyway, she's really clever - and I don't want to know how many book-keepers are doing the same thing without getting trapped... And I'm really sorry for the company!

Have a nice day :-)

(*) transfered or transferred? Please help... Thx :-)

5QF - 05/07/10

Yay it's Friday and that means it's time for Mama M.'s Five Question Friday!
Hop over and join in :-)

1. What is your worst memory of your siblings?
> As my younger brother (I really cannot write little coz he's taller now and looks like a bear...) hit his head on my dad's self-made wooden swing. We need to go to hospital coz he had a hole in the head. Horrible. He was about 4 years old or something...

2. What was YOUR naughtiest childhood memory? (Must be something YOU did, no pawning it off on someone else!)
> Me? A naughty kid? Oh, come on, I was the nicest kid you could imagine ;-) Uhm I really need to think hard coz everything before my 16th birthday is like gone with the wind. I'm not kidding. I hardly do have any memory of my childhood...
I'm really sorry, I cannot remember anything right now so I leave this question out.

3. Where do you like to go to relax?
> My bed. Best place to relax - sleeping is the best relaxation ever. To me... Oh well, of course I can relax at a spa as well but my bed is my fav :-)

4. What was the last thing you won?
> It was a CD at a fair (doing the wheel of Fortune).

5. If you could be on a game show, which would you choose?
> "Wer wird Millionär?" I think it's called "Who wants to be a millionaire?". I love this show and watching it whenever it's on. And the German presenter is very charming, too.

Have a nice weekend! :-)

Today: Alicia Keys "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart"

I heard it on the radio a few days ago and loved it from the first few seconds. Although the lyrics are kind of depressing - I love this song quite much!

Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

Sometimes...

Sometimes, I want to run away.

Sometimes, I just want to get on a train to nowhere.

Sometimes, everybody annoys me.

Sometimes, everything is too much.

Sometimes, I feel so very lost.

Sometimes, all I want is being on my own.

Sometimes, I want to escape in a dream world.

Sometimes is today...

Writer's Workshop - Letter To A New Mom

It's time for Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop again. This week's prompt No. 1 suits me quite perfect as I planned a kind of that topic to post.
The prompt is: Open letter to new moms...

Let's go!

>> Dear new mom or mommy-to-be,

there are sooooo many things we don't think about or expect to happen when we are planning to get pregnant. Pregnancy itself is a cake walk compared to birth and having a fresh baby at home. Believe me - it hit me quite hard coz this is something moms NEVER tell you about.

They tell you that giving birth is the most emotional and wonderful thing on earth. It is not! Really not! Giving birth is emotional but not in a good way. And it will be the most horrible and painful experience you can imagine. But you can never imagine the labor pain nor the pain after giving birth (e.g. episiotomy).
But yes, you feel like in heaven when you're holding your little tiny baby in your arms, searching for your breast and nearly unable to open the eyes. That's the most wonderful moment when giving birth...

They never tell you about the first few weeks after birth. You won't get no sleep, no recreation. You are the most stressed, starving and anguished, overstrained person in the world. The baby wants to eat every 2-4 hours, even at night. You are not able to walk much and need to stay at home when having a c-section or a episiotomy, for about 4 weeks. Every situation is new with a new-born, even having a shower or cooking.
But yes, when you are feeding (doesn't matter if you do breastfeeding or bottle-feeding) at 3 o'clock in the morning, in the middle of the night, freezing and then he/she smiles at you and is thankful that you are there - you know it's all worth it...

They never tell you that it will change your complete life. And if they do tell you, you'd never believe. Because you'll get one of those other moms that won't change their life because of that little person. You are sure you get it managed and that you are always being showered and put your face on when leaving the house. You think that you'll get back your old body right away and be cool in every situation. Believe me, you won't. Never. Your life will change and you cannot do anything for stopping that.
But yes, sometimes you get everything in order and even washed your hair when you leave the house (maybe you'll notice that you forget the make-up) but no one every notices coz it doesn't matter as long as your baby is satisfied.

I really don't want to scare you. But this is how I experienced it. And other moms I know felt exactly the same.
Be sure to say NO if you don't want to have any visitors. Say NO if you don't want the other to touch your baby.
And after 8 weeks time, you got used to your baby and everything runs in order again. This is true!

Wishing you all the best!<<
